Advantages of Owning a Pop-Up, Folding Camping Trailer
Most owners simply call them pop-ups, but the RV industry calls them fold downs or folding travel trailers. There are many advantages to owning a pop-up, the greatest being the satisfaction of all the fun family vacations that you will have because you have immediate access to a means for travel that includes accommodations. Pop-ups are perfect for the family or couple that enjoys camping a few times a year, and they can’t be beat for spontaneous travel and enjoying the outdoors while still having some of the comforts of home.
Today’s pop-ups are lightweight units that easily fold down and store when not in use. Usually they have canvas sides with a steel or aluminum frame. There are plastic windows that really help you to feel like you are part of the surrounding outdoors. You feel a little like you are sleeping outdoors in a tent, but you also have the comforts of traveling in an RV.
An SUV, mini van, or medium sized car can safely tow most medium folding travel trailers and you are not required to have any special license. The low profile of a travel trailer means easier towing and better gas mileage than larger RVs.
And don’t let the small size fool you; pop-ups are surprisingly large when opened up! Many sleep six, have toilets, showers, dinettes and more. I was shocked to hear you can even get them with a full size king bed these days. Now that’s what I call roomy!Copyright 2007, RVStreet.com
